As we enter a new year and a new decade I wanted to share some highlights from 2019.

I started 2019 in a bit of a sorry state, my family were planning to say goodbye to my dear old grandad who sadly passed away on Christmas Day. So January was a bit of a blur to be honest as I took time out after the end of a pretty sad year.

Then February came and was a whirlwind, catching up with emails and clients. February also saw the first wedding of the season which took place at the lovely Manor at Bickley (formerly Bickley Manor). Such a fabulous day celebrating the bride and groom’s 21st anniversary by getting married and partying with their friends and family!

And from then on, it was pretty much full on!!! And I’m still spinning!!

I love the beginning of Springtime!! I photographed lots of beautiful pre-wedding shoots amongst the beautiful blossom. I love doing pre-wedding shoots and getting excited with the couples as they tell me about their wedding plans. Lot of excitement!!
I photographed quite a few families and babies too – must have been the Spring air!

In May it was time to photograph Lynsey and James’ wedding back at the beautiful Cooling Castle Barn. After being a recommended supplier for a few years at Cooling Castle, it was great to be back there after a break! Quite a bit has changed, mostly the new Mote House has appeared which is a beautiful space for the bride’s squad to get ready in!!
It was such a beautiful day and the blog can be found here… https://uniqueimagephotography.co.uk/a-beautiful-spring-wedding-at-cooling-castle-barn/

The summer months were busy!! Lots of editing, weddings, editing, album designs, shooting, editing!!
I can’t list them all but one wedding that stands out from the summer was Jamie and Maria’s beautiful London wedding https://uniqueimagephotography.co.uk/a-london-wedding/
So many reasons why I loved this wedding; the church in Chelsea featured in 101 Dalmations – the actual film, St Ermin’s hotel was gorgeous (even in the rain) and Maria’s dress was simply divine – handmade by Gwen Russell https://www.gwenrussell.com/, Maria looked so beautiful!! BUT mainly this wedding stood out because the wedding was just what Maria and Jamie wanted – they did it exactly how they wanted.
Then of course, there was Sarah and Vicky’s beautiful wedding at Brandshatch Place Hotel where I am lucky enough to be the recommended photographer. The effort that these two brides put into making every little thing was phenomenal!

Of course, another wedding which stands out was my uncle and aunt’s wedding that I photographed at The Warren in Hayes! I was really, really nervous as my family were all going to be there – and I wore a dress for the first time in years!! However, it was absolutely fine and although I was working I thoroughly enjoyed myself – but took precautions and had my friend and fellow photographer, Peter Prior, with me to capture the shots that I wasn’t able to get.

Sophie and Steve’s wedding again at Brandshatch Place Hotel in Kent, was one that I was excited about doing after they smashed their pre-wedding shoot!! Such a gorgeous natural couple who both looked amazing on their wedding day!

Mark and Karen’s wedding back at Brandshatch Place Hotel. A first for me at their wedding as the bride cried when I walked into see her in her room to start the bridal preps!! I asked why Karen was crying and she said it was because seeing my smiley face set her off! HA! How funny, it really made me laugh – I always say I have a ‘resting bitch face’! Something I’m sure puts some people off – except Karen ????

Early Autumn and it was time for Rebecca and Simon’s wedding and Grace and Greg’s wedding on the same weekend. Annoyingly the weather was miserable all weekend which made for a challenging time – particularly when the wind blew away Grace’s veil as she stepped onto the church steps ready to meet her groom!!!
One thing we can’t guarantee is the weather so we just have to roll with it.

Finally, my last wedding of 2019 on New Years Eve! Kathleen and John, and your guests – you were all so lovely!! Such a lovely couple and gorgeous little boy!!

Lots and lots of beautiful wedding photographs taken during 2019!!! In actual fact, I must see if I can log how many photographs I actually take during a wedding season!!! I reckon it’s got to be around 40k!!
That is without me photographing the beautiful families and the cute babies!

This year I photographed lots of newborns, one set of twin newborn boys and their cousin when he arrived a few months later. I also got to photograph my beautiful niece when she was pregnant and looking even more beautiful!
I photographed lots of children too last year…and finally did a horsey session that I had quietly planned in my head for a while – and which I think could be my all time favourite shoot. Why? Because I have had particular images in my head for a few years now of how I would like to do a horse photo shoot – in a field during a beautiful sunset!! My dream came true and I photographed this beautiful little lady with her BFF one evening!! I am so pleased with the results!

So that’s one tick of my bucket list!!

Which brings me on nicely to my bucket list. Here is my photography bucket list, which I’m hoping I’ll be able to tick off in 2020!

Photograph a birth (sensitively and in black and white!)! I’ve always wanted to photograph a birth, I want to be able to capture the emotion of it all.
Photograph more proposals! I’ve done a surprise proposal in my studio but would like more location proposals please – if you are interested, please do get in touch.
I want to photograph weddings at The Gherkin, The Shard and at St. Paul’s Cathedral!
Photograph a wedding in Scotland amongst the mountains and also in lakes – maybe photograph a wedding in the Lake District too!
Photograph more horse sessions!
A styled bridal shoot, featuring a horse! In actual fact, I’m planning to photograph more styled wedding shoots with wedding venues to see my ideas come to life!

So, if you or anyone you know want to help me with my bucket list please do get in touch!! There will be a freebie in it for you!

Finally, although I am primarily a wedding and family photographer based in Kent, I have also recently started helping small businesses with photographing headshots and offering branding photography to businesses to help give their business an identity! If you are running a small business and would be interested, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you! You can see a small selection of images in my slideshow above!

Thank you for booking with me and trusting me to capture your memories. Thank you for being my supporters, my cheerleaders, thank you for your patience, for your help and most of all for being with me during my 21st year as a photographer!!! Quite something!
Here’s to a new decade!!!
